The Society is bringing back its much-loved tradition
of regional wine dinners and adding some new twists. On Saturday,
March 19, 2005 we are planning a delicious catered dinner
menu, served Italian style and paired with the kinds of wines
you would find if you were traveling through the vineyards of Italy.
Getting to know the unique wines of Italy can be an endless adventure
in taste. Prepare to let your imagination roll through the hill
towns, river valleys and volcanic mountainsides in search of wines
of every color, flavor and style conceivable.
Italy’s growing reputation for wines is due
not only to the fact that it produces and exports more wine than
any other country, but that it offers the greatest variety of wine
types. We are fortunate to have, in the greater Seattle area, several
importers and distributors who are dedicated to bringing in small-
production Italian wine from vintners found off the beaten path.
Wine Fair Meets Regional Dinner
You will enjoy a gamut of wines from dry whites and hearty reds
to exotic dessert wine from just a few of the 20 recognized wine
regions. Our backroads tour will wind from the Po River Valley through
the hills past Florence to Rome, culminating in that sunny Mediterranean
place in the south that the Greeks came to call Oenotria, Land of
Wine.
In order to blend the convivial ambience of a sit-down
dinner with the chance to sample as many wines as one would like,
tables of additional
wines will be available with a variety of bottlings for tasting.
The wines chosen for this event are those typically found only in
fine restaurants, specialty wine shops and – of course –
in Italy, via the backroads.
Due to the exclusive nature of this event, ticket
sales will be limited to 200. The wines poured will be available
for purchase and live Italian music will further enhance this dining
experience.
