Stars of Washington: Wines of Distinction

This year's summer event promises to be truly stellar, as the Society invites you to join us for Stars of Washington: Wines of Distinction, to be held on Sunday, August 12, 2007, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This celebration of our local winemakers' achievements will take place at the Community Center at Mercer View, located on Mercer Island, with gorgeous summer evening views of Lake Washington. Washington State is now home to over 500 wineries, and our wine producers continue to increase the quality as well as the quantity. These local wineries, large and small, are producing award-winning wines in all price ranges, for a variety of red and white varietals. As a further example, vintage 2004 in Washington State produced nearly 300 wines that rated 90+ points by Wine Enthusiast, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, and/or the Wine Spectator! This summer, the Society is showcasing a variety of distinctive Washington State wines. As the basis for our selection for this event, we are presenting many of the Gold and Silver Medal Winners from the recent 2007 Seattle Wine Awards. This prestigious blind-tasting event, headed by Christopher Chan, Executive Director, included participation by Seattle's most well-known sommeliers and wine experts. Click here for the wine list.

The Seattle Wine Society is also very pleased to announce that North City Bistro will be joining us for the event. North City Bistro, located in Shoreline, specializes in using the freshest Northwest ingredients to pair most effectively with this region's outstanding wines. Click here for the menu.
