Summer is not the time for big, robust reds, but you may want something besides yet another Chardonnay. The answer? Rosé! For many, the thought of Rosé evokes images of the cheap white Zinfandels that have been all too plentiful for years. But word is getting out about how versatile Rosé can be; possessing both the crispness of whites and some of the complexity and spiciness of reds. Rosés are especially popular in the hot Mediterranean region of southern France where the demand is for light, refreshing wines that pair well with summer foods, from barbecues to pasta salads. The secret: Choose your style of Rosé, buy it young, chill it thoroughly, and enjoy!

Guest speaker will be David LeClaire, certified sommelier and founder and president of “Best of the West,” a series of intimate, upscale wine events held throughout the U.S. He is also former wine director at the Alexis Hotel and Library Bistro.
