| Why is there no 2007 Wine Festival?
Since 1976, the Enological
Society (a/k/a the Seattle Wine Society) has conducted an
annual judging of Northwest Wines. For many years, this
judging played an important role in the development of the
Northwest Wine industry and the judging has been recognized
as a premier judging event in the country. We have come
to realize that with the industry's exponential growth,
it is not possible to cover the breadth, depth and quality
of the wines of the Pacific Northwest with the type of judging
event we have traditionally undertaken. Therefore, we will
not be conducting a judging
or holding a wine festival in 2007. We are taking time out
to assess if and how we can reorganize, focus and/or consolidate
resources of the Society and the Seattle wine community
to develop and produce a high quality judging/event that
creates valuable and exciting information for our members
and the public about the great wines produced in our region.
In place of this year's festival, we presented
an array of award-winning Washington wines at the August
12 event, Stars
of Washington: Wines of Distinction.
