Judges' Dinner August 3, 2006 at Ray's

This is your opportunity to share a meal with our panel of Festival judges. Each year, five judges are chosen for their extensive experience and international perspective to evaluate the wines entered in our Festival. Once the judging process is complete they look forward to relaxing at our Judges Dinner, where they have a chance to chat with our dinner guests about the wines they have evaluated extensively over the past two days, the judging process and what goes into selecting the Gold, Silver and Bronze awards — all while enjoying the Festival wines with them.

Our Judges Dinner returns to Ray’s Boathouse this year. We will have a private building all to ourselves, with a fabulous view out over Shilshole Bay and Puget Sound and the Olympics as a backdrop. All Festival wines will be open for tasting prior to the meal and available to pair with the dinner courses that Ray’s has planned for our evening.

Judges Dinner Menu
Appetizers
Selection of cheeses, crackers, fruit and nuts
Fresh vegetable crudités with assorted dips
Hors d’oeuvres (to be announced)

Starter
Mixed field greens with toasted sunflower seeds and chopped apricots,
with lemon-herb vinaigrette

Entrée Choice
Grilled wild Alaskan Coho Salmon, with
Bing cherry chutney, grilled Walla Walla
sweet onions, Yukon gold potato gratin
and goat cheese asparagus

Grilled top sirloin, with thyme demi-glace, buttermilk-battered onion ring, sour cream and chive mashed potatoes and asparagus

Vegetarian: Sweet pea, pearl onion and parmesan risotto, with grilled asparagus

Dessert
Olympic Mountain sorbet with
chocolate shortbread cookie

$75 (includes tax and tip)

Advance reservations are a must, as we have room for only 80 attendees. Send check, payable to Seattle Wine Society, c/o Kit Pomeroy, 10 E. Roanoke Street #9, Seattle WA 98102. Include full names of all attendees and each person’s entrée choice. Tickets will not be issued but confirmation can be provided by e-mail (please provide e-mail address).
